Fingerprint attendance
- Strengths: lowest cost, proven and accurate for office staff
- Limits: needs touch, and worn, dirty or wet fingers can fail to read. This is common in factories, construction and kitchens.
Face recognition attendance
- Strengths: no touch, fast, works with gloves and dirty hands, and handles large shifts well
- Limits: costs more, and needs sensible placement away from strong backlight
Hybrid machines
Many terminals support face, fingerprint and card together. Staff can use whichever works best, which is useful in mixed workforces.
