CCTV installation in Gurgaon: a practical buyer's guide

Planning CCTV installation in Gurgaon for a shop, office or society? What a proper installation includes, what decides the cost and what to ask installers.

Searching for CCTV installation services in Gurgaon usually means you have a shop, office, warehouse or society gate to cover and a few quotations that are hard to compare. One vendor quotes per camera, another quotes a "4 camera set", a third adds cabling and labour as separate lines. This guide explains what a proper installation includes, what changes the cost, and what to ask before you sign, so you can compare offers like for like.

Note: CCTV cost depends on camera type, resolution, cable length, recording days and brand, so we do not publish a fixed price list. Ask for an itemised quotation after a site survey.

What a CCTV installation in Gurgaon should include

A camera is only one part of the system. A complete installation normally covers:

  • Site survey and camera layout: marking each camera position and what it must see, such as the entrance, cash counter, parking or stock area.
  • Cameras: dome cameras for indoor areas, bullet cameras for outdoor walls and gates, and PTZ cameras only where a large open area needs zoom.
  • Recorder: a DVR for HD analog cameras or an NVR for IP cameras, with a hard disk sized for the number of days you want to keep.
  • Cabling and power: coaxial or CAT6 cable, conduit or casing, a PoE switch for IP cameras, and a power supply with backup.
  • Mobile viewing setup: live view and playback on your phone, with your own login and password.
  • Handover: a short demo on how to search footage, export a clip and check that recording is running.

If a quotation does not mention one of these, ask whether it is included or charged separately.

What decides the CCTV installation cost

Number and type of cameras

A 4 CCTV camera set is a common starting point for a small shop or flat, while an office floor or warehouse may need 8, 16 or more. Outdoor cameras with full-colour night vision or a long infrared range cost more than basic indoor domes. Choose the camera for the job each position has to do, not the highest megapixel figure.

IP or HD analog

HD analog systems are economical and work well for small sites. IP cameras give sharper images, smart features such as line crossing alerts, and easier expansion on a network. Our IP camera vs HD analog CCTV guide explains the trade-off in detail.

Cable length and routing

Labour and material rise when cables must run through false ceilings, across floors or to a gate far from the recorder. Neat conduit work costs a little more but protects the cable and looks better in a shop or reception.

Recording days and storage

Keeping 30 days of footage needs a much larger hard disk than keeping 7 days. Use our CCTV storage calculator to estimate the disk size before you compare quotes.

Warranty, service and AMC

Ask who will visit if a camera goes blank, how fast, and whether an annual maintenance contract is offered. A local team in Gurugram that can reach your site quickly is worth more than a slightly lower price from far away.

CCTV installation for a shop in Gurgaon

Shops usually need fewer cameras but careful placement. Cover the cash counter from above and behind, the main door at face height so people can be identified, and any stock room or back door. Avoid pointing a camera straight at a bright glass front, because the image of people entering will be dark. Mobile viewing lets the owner check the shop from home, and a small UPS keeps recording running during power cuts.

Questions to ask before you choose an installer

  • Will you visit the site and give a camera layout before quoting?
  • Which brand and model is each camera and recorder, and what is the warranty?
  • How many days of recording will the hard disk hold at the resolution you are offering?
  • Is cabling, conduit, PoE switch, rack and labour included in the price?
  • Will the system be set up on my phone with my own password?
  • Do you offer AMC, and do you service systems installed by others?

Getting written answers to these questions makes two quotations easy to compare, and avoids surprise charges after the work starts.
