Where Noida sites use a full height turnstile

A full height turnstile is a head-height rotor inside a steel frame. It lets one person through per valid face, card or fingerprint and cannot be climbed over or crawled under, so it is the turnstile for gates that are open to the road or not guarded all the time. In Noida the enquiries usually come from:

• Factory and export-unit boundary gates in Phase 1, 2 and 3 (Sectors 1 to 11, 57 to 65 and 80 to 88). Many of these plots have a narrow pedestrian gate beside the truck gate. The turnstile goes on the pedestrian side and a boom barrier controls vehicles.
• Electronics and mobile assembly units with large shift workforces, where the company must know exactly who is inside the shop floor and wants no one walking in behind a colleague.
• Data centre and IT campuses, where the outer fence gate or the entry to the server building must log every person and stay locked to everyone else.
• Construction sites along the Noida Expressway and in the newer sectors, where the builder or contractor counts labour in and out, closes the site at night and may move the turnstile to the next project later.

Full height turnstile or a cheaper option?

If the entrance is inside a covered, guarded lobby, a flap barrier looks better and moves people faster, and a tripod turnstile is the lowest cost per lane for a covered workers’ entrance. Choose full height when the gate is at the boundary wall, when it runs unattended at night, or when the risk is someone jumping over a waist-high unit. Many Noida plants use a mix: flap barriers at the admin block, tripods inside the canteen or shop-floor entrance, and a full height unit at the perimeter. Points we plan for on a Noida site

• Shift-change rush. Phase 2 and Phase 3 units often change shifts at the same time as their neighbours, so the road outside fills up quickly. We count the people in the busiest 15 minutes and choose single or dual lane, or more than one unit, so workers are not left queuing on the road.
• Separate entry and exit. A dual lane unit can run one lane in and one lane out, which keeps the morning entry and the night-shift exit from blocking each other and makes the in and out logs cleaner.
• Monsoon water and open gates. Some industrial roads in Noida collect water in heavy rain. We set the turnstile on a raised concrete base with a drain path, suggest SS304 or a good outdoor finish, and put a canopy over the readers.
• The right credential. Face recognition avoids lost or shared cards and works for workers with worn fingerprints. RFID cards suit short-term contract labour, and every pass can carry an end date so access stops when the contract ends. Visitors and drivers can be given QR passes through a visitor management system.
• Emergency release. We link the controller to the fire alarm panel so the rotor turns freely in an emergency, and we test it at handover. A full height turnstile is not an evacuation route on its own, so the site still needs a wide emergency or goods gate.
• Power cuts. A small UPS keeps the readers and controller working through short outages, and the fail-safe or fail-secure setting is agreed with you before installation.

Attendance, contractor bills and headcount

The turnstile reader can also be the attendance device, so there is no separate punch. Entry and exit records go to the attendance software for shift, overtime and contractor-wise reports, which helps when matching a labour contractor’s bill with real hours. In a drill or emergency, the list of people still inside helps the safety officer at the assembly point.
