Where door frame metal detectors are used in Gurugram
A door frame metal detector (DFMD) screens every person who walks through it without contact and shows roughly where any metal is carried. How it works and how zones differ is explained on our main door frame metal detector page. In Gurugram we install them at:
- Office towers and IT parks in Cyber City, Golf Course Road, Sohna Road and Udyog Vihar, at the main lobby or the visitor entry beside the flap barriers. Morning peaks here decide the number of lanes.
- Malls, hotels and hospitals, usually with an X-ray baggage scanner for bags and a guard with a handheld detector to clear alarms.
- Schools, colleges and coaching centres, where the detector is part of the entry check at fixed timings.
- Banquet halls, convention and event venues that hold events often and want their own portable unit on a stable base, ready to move between halls.
- Factories and warehouses in Udyog Vihar and IMT Manesar that check staff at the exit for small metal parts, tools or components leaving the premises, alongside a full height turnstile at the workers’ gate.
Choosing the zone count for your entrance
- Single zone only says metal is present, so every alarm needs a full handheld search. We suggest it only for very light use.
- 6 zone suits most Gurugram office receptions, clinics, banks and schools with moderate footfall.
- 18 zone is common at malls, hotels, hospitals and busy office lobbies, where guards must clear alarms quickly in peak hours.
- 33 zone is for high-security entrances and large events where screening is strict.
More zones help the guard find the object faster; they do not make the detector “stronger”. Our multi zone DFMD guide explains the choice.
Points we check at a Gurugram site
- Interference in modern lobbies. Escalators, lifts, revolving or sliding steel doors, steel cladding and heavy power cables under the floor all cause false alarms. We test the spot before fixing the frame, and keep two detectors far enough apart or on different channels.
- Peak hour, not daily total. A tower where most staff arrive between 9 and 10 needs more lanes than a hotel with the same daily footfall. We count the busiest hour and plan lanes, guards and a tray table for phones and keys.
- Open gates and events. For a gate in the open or a lawn event, we suggest an outdoor-rated model or a canopy, and keep the control unit out of rain and direct sun.
- Power cuts. We check whether the model has a battery backup or plan a UPS point, so screening does not stop during an outage.
- Flow and accessibility. We leave space for the handheld check after the frame and a separate path for wheelchair users and people with medical implants.
What supply, installation and AMC include
- Site survey: entry width, peak footfall, power point and nearby sources of interference.
- Supply of the recommended detector with the manufacturer warranty, plus handheld detectors and an X-ray scanner where needed.
- Installation: assembly, floor fixing or a stable base for portable use, power connection and sensitivity setting on site with test objects.
- Guard training: walk-through procedure, what each zone alarm means, handheld follow-up and the daily self-test.
- AMC: periodic sensitivity checks, panel and cable inspection and breakdown visits from our Sector 14 office. See our AMC services.

Questions from Gurugram buyers
Which door frame metal detector is right for an office in Gurugram?
For most office receptions a 6 zone detector is enough. Busy lobbies with a sharp morning peak usually need an 18 zone model, and sometimes two lanes. We decide after counting the busiest hour at the survey.
Why does a metal detector give false alarms in our lobby?
Nearby escalators, lifts, steel doors or cladding, power cables and a frame that is not fixed firmly are the usual causes. We test the spot before installation and set the sensitivity on site with test objects.
Can we move the detector between halls for events?
Yes. Portable detectors stand on a stable base and can be shifted between halls or to a lawn. For outdoor use choose an outdoor-rated model or keep it under a canopy.
Do we also need an X-ray baggage scanner?
A DFMD screens people only. If bags must be checked, as in malls, hotels and many offices, an X-ray baggage scanner is added, with a guard using a handheld detector to clear alarms.
What is the price of a door frame metal detector in Gurugram?
It depends mainly on the zone count, indoor or outdoor model, extras such as counters or battery backup, and the number of lanes. The Gurugram price page shows starting prices; we send a written, itemised quotation after the survey.
